Teaching Children Teaching children ....? I am an agnostic atheist. This is new for me and I am still learning. I want my children educated enough to draw their own conclusions about religion. How can I go to educate all creeds, as well as my own without thinking "Well, Mom said it must be true." I do not want them to think that just because I see things a certain way they should automatically too. I want them to think things through themselves. At what age should I start talking to them about religion? They are young, 6 and 3, and my 6 years already asking questions about God, and I answer them as best I know how, without confusing. Let me tell you that you are a parent great not to indoctrinate your child about your beliefs or lack thereof. The indoctrination is very emotional and a viscious cycle. Then they will be well educated. Well, whatever happens, your children will follow your every move (figuratively speaking), until they reach adolescence. In addition, you should begin to teach them as they begin to ask questions, answer truthfully and unbiased. I will not tell you what to say, but I suggest not to saturate them with one religion. If you can, start teaching them about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Deism, Buddhism, and all the others. Whatever they want to know more, let them learn more, and if they choose to be whatever religion he is Go! Hope this helps and good luck! ^ _ ^ JP agree with is how I (an atheist) approached "religious my own child" of education. We teach children every second by our actions! What we teach them more than words could ever do. By being honest with them about what you believe or do not believe a. Posted on July 8, 2010.
