It is always exciting when your child begins to communicate using words. Naturally, the words are initially clear and a reconciliation of actual word. For example "do" could be "go" and "Doddy" could be "Dog". As children learn more words and begin to put words together to make short sentences, usually occurring from 18 months, parents often wonder what is the approximate age of the sounds develop. What is normal language development for children?

The first sounds that children produce accurately the sounds we associate with babble. These sounds are "m, p, b, w, n, t, d '. These sounds are easily made by the child to put their lips and tongue behind their teeth. The sounds the lips are often the first to develop your baby can see you produce these sounds and imitates the movements of your mouth.

Usually certain sounds develop before others. The following is the average age at which the speech below is accurate to 75% of the time in the speech of a child.

3 years: H, J, W, m, n, ng, p, k, t, b, g, d, z

3 years 6 months f

4 years: l, sh, ch

4 years 6 months: DG, s, z

5 years: r

7 years 6 months: soft e

Another indicator of speech, if a child is developing normally is to determine how the child is well understood by their parents. In 18 months of age a child's word is intelligible 25% of the time, 24 months a child's speech is intelligible 50-75% of the time, then three years the word of a child must be heard 75-100% of the time. In three years of a child must also be easily understood by an unknown adult most of the time. Not all sounds are correctly stated, but the child can be heard. Their word is both children and adults not.
