Snap N GoSnaps: When Buttons Just Will not Do

You probably have more than a few items of clothing using a form of binding that is not quite a button or a zipper, but everything else. In all likelihood, it is a snap, and it has become a popular alternative to fixing not only for clothes, but for many other applications, being a notable military engages.

Snaps are called by several other names, among them: snaps, poppers, snaps, and even if they are more commonly known simply snaps. The overwhelming majority of shots are made of metal, and are generally recognized as two drives that fit together to secure two pieces of cloth or other soft materials. Snaps are often used instead of buttons and there are actually many good reasons why they are used in this manner, but we will return later in this section.

A German inventor who has been named Heribert Bauer applied for the first patent for a snap in the year 1885. Bauer originally conceived of as a sort snap novelty attachment for clothes-pants for men in particular. Bauer has called what was to become an important innovation in the apparel industry and the fabric "Federknopf-Verschluss" and it proved to be very popular in his native Germany, where it spread like wildfire the rest of Europe and sometimes later, many other countries around the world. The "Federknopf-Verschluss" was of particular interest to the military industry booming in Germany, which has found many applications for the newly invented military engages in both the battlefield and off.

Of course, the world has been quick to take to the convenience offered by the snap closure and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, snaps can be seen everywhere, it is necessary to fix two separate pieces of material together. Clothing is of course one of the most popular uses, and you can often see snaps in raincoats, parkas and jackets. For these applications, you might want to attach and detach the articles of clothing on several occasions and often quickly snap fasteners are simply a better alternative to buttons, zippers, or other forms of fasteners. It's also why snaps military has become commonplace.

Besides the ease and convenience of snap fasteners can provide, they also tend to last much longer than other types of clothing fasteners. If you can wait for buttons and zippers to loosen, break, or simply fail at some point, snaps can last almost indefinitely. When was the last time you heard a snap to break, after all?

Just as buttons and zippers were able to stay with us through various developments and innovations in the setting, it seems that the clasps are here to stay for the foreseeable future. While there is a need for rapid, sustainable and safe mounting, snap will continue to be used.
