Gift Basket Boutique

Gift Basket BoutiqueDo you have any advice for starting a gift shop business?

My sister and I are considering starting a new business and eventually open our own business. We both, for years, have been clever and creative and has her own line of bath products and I have a line of gift baskets and gifts in a jar. Have you any advice or tips you want to share? We are in the Central Valley of California and would have even thought to more or less the Internet sales to begin, but it is clear that we are fairly new for the retail portion outside the bazaars and shopping locally and those that we travel to. Any thoughts? Thank you very much!

Do lots of homework to find the right store and the legality of a partnership, etc. If you can, get a part time job in a store to see how things work and do not work. I made the mistake of starting a business without really studying the market, and I lost a lot of money. Make sure you have enough capital you're willing to lose for one year. Sometimes a business takes time to take off. But you must be prepared to lose this capital if the company is going nowhere.

You might consider working from your garage sale in a shop in the house via ebay, your own website or Amazon.com. You would have a minimum additional cost and could then build up a clientele.

I wish you luck and pleasure of your company.

Please take a look at this new program of cash rewards to leverage that I joined. You can easily recive cash rewards on a maximum of 9,840 online buyers only for inclusion in the program. There is no cost what-so-ever to join and no purchase of any kind.
