Cradle MountainSo what's so special about Cradle Mountain Tasmania

Cradle Mountain is one of the most impressive places to visit throughout Australia. The area was protected as a national park since 1922 and today, one quarter of all visitors to Tasmania, taking time to visit the park as part of their exploration of the island. When you talk about Pristine desert, there really is not much better than that.

There are tons of short walks that enable visitors to enjoy looking Cradle Mountain s'. With meandering rivers and dense ancient forest just twenty minutes along the short walk delighted, everyone can take part in the discovery of nature. For adventurous hikers, the summit of Cradle Mountain beckons. It is also the beginning of the Overland Track, a 65 km walk that ends six days later on the shores of Lake St. Clair. You do not have the hard way, however, with huts catering available for eat and sleep along the road.

The area is well known for its natural features, including stunning glacial lakes, alpine vegetation and rainforest millennia. This is the only forest in Australia with deciduous trees, including beech, deciduous unique to Tasmania. These trees are particularly impressive in the autumn months when the leaves begin to turn from gold to a deep red shade.

Cradle Mountain owes its designation as a National Park ecologist Austrian born Weindorf Gustav. You can see his contribution to the exposure Weindorf Villa, just minutes from the road to Dove Lake. Stop at the visitor center, where the natural history of the park is shown in the screens. There is a bus leaving every day throughout the year.

It is important to remember that Cradle Lake is located in an alpine area. This means that time is subject to rapid change. Remember to bring extra clothing and rain gear, map, flashlight, walking shoes and sturdy.
