Could we end up like the children of men movie? I have not done research on it myself, but I think there are a lot fewer couples able to have children now and in the IVF or adoption. Is it possible that one day women around the world will not be able to? If you think so, would it be because of pollution, radiation etc., divine intervention, or something else?
The main reason for infertility is increasing because many women now wait longer to have kids. Your fertility declines dramatically after age 35 years and some women are marrying later or choose to work, travel, etc., before having children. It may appear that infertility is increasing because people are more open about it now. We have not had IVF 30 years ago and people considered infertility as a taboo or a sign of weakness. It still is.
However, for every woman who decides to wait to have children, there is a woman who has three children before she 22. I think it kind of balances out. Unless there is a nuclear war, I do not see the children of men happens in the near future.
It is possible ... I highly doubt that. In many developing countries the fertility rate is still very high and more couples are using things like IVF is still a relatively small number compared to those to conceive naturally.
I think if a situation should arise COM, it should be due to radiation leakage world that something in the world would probably be so strong that it would kill everyone instead .. . Anyway, it would not be a divine intervention.
